Dondi, Abigail and Ryan didn't know the answer. Do you?

Cue the dramatic music and the collective South Florida facepalm. On the January 2 episode of Jeopardy!, a $2,000 clue popped up in the category “That Place Sounds Fishy” and not a single contestant buzzed in with the correct response. The clue read: “This fish-name ‘Beach’ city in Broward County is just north of Fort Lauderdale.”
And of course, we all know the answer. Like, immediately. But somehow contestants Dondi DeMarco, Abigail Arnold and Ryan Sharpe stared it down and let it go unanswered. A whole Broward city. On national television. Just sitting there.
It’s one of those moments where locals yell at the screen, group texts light up and trivia-night confidence levels spike countywide. Because let’s be real: fish-name beach town, Broward County, north of Fort Lauderdale? That’s a gimme for anyone who’s spent five minutes here or driven north on A1A without GPS.
(If somehow you’re still like ‘OMG, I actually don’t know it’... it’s Pompano Beach, people.)
Consider this your reminder that Broward stays underrated, underestimated and occasionally unrecognized by people not from these parts on primetime TV. But that’s fine. We know we’re awesome. And now, thanks to Jeopardy!, the rest of the country is one unanswered clue closer to knowing, too.
