Fort Lauderdale’s barbecue scene just got golden-crispier. B&D Trap BBQ - the Texas-style smokehouse that’s already been called one of the best BBQ spots in Florida - has brought its cult-favorite empanadas from downtown Miami to its Sistrunk corridor location.

Priced at just two for $5, these golden, hand-folded beauties are everything you want in a comfort bite: hot, flaky and stuffed to the brim with slow-smoked pulled pork or tender brisket. Each empanada packs a punch of that signature Texas barbecue flavor, mellowed by the tangy drizzle of Alabama white sauce served alongside. They’re snackable, shareable and, frankly, dangerously habit-forming.

“B&D Trap BBQ’s beloved empanadas have made their way from Miami to Fort Lauderdale after selling out week after week,” Kevin Rodriguez, operating partner of B&D Trap, tells Browardist. “The golden, hand-folded pastries are stuffed with slow-smoked pulled pork or tender brisket, blending authentic Texas barbecue flavor with a crispy, savory twist. What started as a hit in downtown Miami has quickly become a local favorite that’s here to stay.”

The Fort Lauderdale location, which opened in 2024 at 1551 NW 6th Street, is already known for its perfectly smoked brisket, juicy ribs and cornbread that could double as dessert. But these empanadas? They’re the new sleeper hit of the menu... affordable, indulgent and pure comfort food energy.

B&D Trap BBQ is open daily for dine-in, takeout, and delivery, and these empanadas are available while supplies last daily (which, judging by Miami’s appetite for ‘em, might not be long).
