South Florida locals who regularly clock time at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood may want to start planning a Puerto Rico trip (or ten). Hard Rock International has officially unveiled plans for Hard Rock Hotel & Casino San Juan, a massive new-build resort and residential project that’s poised to become one of the most talked-about hospitality developments in the Caribbean.
Slated to open in 2029, the $850 million project will break ground in mid-2026 through a partnership between Hard Rock International, Misla Hospitality, Stonecrest Investment Management and The Interfin Companies. When complete, the waterfront destination will introduce Hard Rock’s first-ever hotel, casino and branded residences in Puerto Rico, bringing the brand’s signature music-fueled vibes to one of the region’s most culturally-rich cities.
Designed by Klai Juba Wald and CMA Architects, the resort promises to be deeply inspired by Puerto Rico’s musical heritage and artistic soul. Expect approximately 415 guest rooms, 58 suites and 186 Hard Rock Residences, many with views of San Juan Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. The development will also feature Puerto Rico’s first fully integrated casino, alongside live entertainment venues, a recording studio and curated music memorabilia highlighting both global icons and local legends.
Beyond the music, the property is aiming for all-ages appeal. Plans call for multiple dining concepts, several bars, three terrace-level pools, a Rock Spa, fitness center, kids’ club, arcade and teen-focused hangout spaces. Its location near Old San Juan and cruise ports - and just minutes from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport - positions it as a natural extension for travelers already hopping between Hard Rock destinations worldwide.
The project is also expected to deliver serious economic impact, creating more than 2,500 construction jobs and 1,250 permanent roles once operational.
