South Florida’s World Cup fever is producing some unusual pairings, but this one may be tough to top.

On Wednesday, June 24, Hard Rock Bet will transform La Sandwicherie’s Wynwood location (169 NW 23rdStreet, Unit 102, Miami) into the “Hard Rock Bet Super Sub Shop,” bringing together two icons from entirely different sports worlds for a one-day fan celebration centered around free food, soccer and Miami culture.

For Colombian soccer supporters, the headline attraction is Carlos “El Pibe” Valderrama, the legendary midfielder whose signature blond curls and playmaking ability made him one of the most recognizable figures in international soccer history. For University of Miami fans, the draw is equally strong. Pro Football Hall of Famer Michael Irvin, one of the greatest players to ever wear a Hurricanes uniform, will also be on hand greeting guests and serving sandwiches.

The event runs from noon to 6 p.m. at La Sandwicherie Wynwood, with Hard Rock Bet giving away 1,000 complimentary World Cup-inspired subs while supplies last. Valderrama is scheduled to appear from noon to 1 p.m., while Irvin is expected from 2 to 3 p.m.

Guests can also expect a DJ, giveaways and Hard Rock Bet merchandise throughout the activation. The event is part of Hard Rock Bet’s “Super Sub” promotion, which arrives as South Florida continues to host fans from around the globe during the world’s biggest soccer tournament.

La Sandwicherie has been a Miami institution since 1988, making it a fitting backdrop for an event meshing soccer fandom, football history and one of the city’s most beloved sandwich shops.

For Colombia supporters, Canes fans and anyone who enjoys free lunch, this one may be worth the Uber, Brightline and/or traffic mayhem.
