After roughly two decades on Las Olas Boulevard, the Community Foundation of Broward has a new address in its future – 200 N. Andrews Ave. in downtown Fort Lauderdale.
The foundation purchased the three-story, 23,000-square-foot building for $5.7 million. The sale closed Sept. 11, and renovations are expected to begin in 2027, with a move planned for early 2028. So, Las Olas regulars have a little time before the goodbye.
The new spot sits next door to the proposed site of Fort Lauderdale’s new City Hall, a short walk from the Broward County Government Center and across the street from a planned park. The Sistrunk Boulevard corridor and Brightline station are a few blocks away, too.
The foundation plans to use the building as a gathering place for donors, nonprofit leaders and civic leaders. A later phase will finish the second floor with space for nonprofits and fundholders to meet and work with foundation staff.
“This permanent home enables us to take the Community Foundation's leadership and impact to new heights, so we can keep pace with the needs of our fast-growing community,” said Community Foundation President/CEO Jennifer O'Flannery Anderson, PhD, in a statement provided to Browardist. “This building will be a place where more Community Foundation fundholders, nonprofit leaders and other community partners can come together to solve problems, invest in innovation and lead the way on shaping a brighter future.”
Founded in 1984, the foundation manages 600 charitable funds valued at $360 million and has distributed over $250 million in grants across Broward. Its nonprofit training center has served over 7,000 professionals and volunteers from upwards of 1,100 local nonprofits in four years.
The foundation says its annual grantmaking will continue uninterrupted. It has also launched a $10 million campaign to support renovations and a building maintenance endowment.
