Ten years after opening its doors, Compassion Behavioral Health is celebrating a milestone ingrained in recovery, mental health care and the thousands of South Florida lives it says have been changed along the way.
The organization marked its 10th anniversary on Thursday, July 23 at its Fort Lauderdale location (1425 W. Cypress Creek Rd., Suite 201) recognizing a decade of serving Broward County and the broader South Florida community. Founded in 2015, Compassion Behavioral Health has expanded from a single facility into a nationally accredited provider offering a full continuum of care, including medical detox, residential treatment, Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP).
"For the past ten years, our mission has remained the same: to build the kind of behavioral healthcare organization where we would feel confident sending our own family members," Ryan Needle, CEO of Compassion Behavioral Health, tells Browardist. "This milestone isn't simply a celebration of our growth from a small office to a comprehensive continuum of care; it's a celebration of the thousands of lives that have found hope, healing, and recovery through the dedication of our incredible team. We are deeply grateful to the Broward County community for placing their trust in us, and we're excited to continue serving South Florida for many years to come."
The Fort Lauderdale location specializes in structured outpatient treatment for individuals recovering from addiction, dual diagnoses and mental health conditions including anxiety, depression and PTSD. Clients participate in multiple hours of therapy, psychiatric care and clinical programming each week while continuing to live at home or in supportive housing, helping bridge the transition from residential treatment back into daily life.
Over the past decade, Compassion Behavioral Health says it has helped thousands of individuals and families navigate recovery from addiction, trauma and co-occurring mental health conditions. Among its published alumni stories is Mark, whose addiction brought him to the brink of suicide before treatment. Today, he shares his recovery journey publicly as an advocate for hope and sobriety.
Another cornerstone of the organization's work is its specialized Veterans Program. Built specifically for active-duty service members and veterans, the track is staffed in part by military veterans and offers trauma-focused therapies including cognitive processing therapy and neurofeedback. The program is PsychArmor certified for military-competent care, works with the VA Community Care Network, is in-network with TRICARE East and is led by Director of Veteran Services Spencer Jones, a 21-year military veteran.
