Davie just got even sweeter, y’all. Sweet Aloha Ice Cream, the family and veteran owned scoop shop tucked off SR 84, walked into its first ever Conecon Convention last week and walked out with three national ribbons judged blind by Cornell’s Dairy Extension Team.
No warmup year. No insider advantage. Just small batch flavors stacked against hundreds of shops across the country and landing one blue, one red and one white ribbon.
Co-owner Jimmy Anderson, a U.S. Air Force veteran, calls the moment surreal. “Three ribbons, one blue, in one convention is a huge honor. It validates our efforts to make super premium ice cream with highest quality ingredients with aloha poured into every batch,” he tells Browardist. “Conecon, being hosted in Palm Beach County, gave us home field energy... now we’re ready to welcome the entire region to taste what put us on the national map.”
Locals are already obsessed with the now award-winning lineup. The Italian Rainbow Cookie ice cream and its over-the-top sundae collab with JW Pastry is quickly becoming the shop’s next viral hit. The Dubai Chocolate Sundae remains a daily favorite thanks to its pistachio chocolate swirl and toasted knafeh crunch. And for the holidays, Sweet Aloha is rolling out Thanksgiving inspired scoops like apple pie, cranberry cheesecake, Grandma’s candied yams, haupia pie and pumpkin cheesecake alongside, wait for it, 8, 12 and 24 flavor advent calendars.
The win comes after a string of recognitions, including Yelp crowning Sweet Aloha the number one shave ice in Florida and Insider ranking it among America’s top 50 ice cream shops. Now with national hardware and holiday flavors in full swing, the timing has never been better to stop by and taste what all the buzz is about.
