If you like your holidays with a side of sun, sand and spikes, December 20 is about to be your kind of festive. Ann Storck Center’s Deck the Volleyballs tournament is returning to the sands of Pompano Beach, bringing an all-day mashup of competitive energy, community spirit and straight up joy.
“Deck the Volleyballs is one of my favorite days of the year because it’s pure joy; people connecting, having fun, and giving back at the same time,” Pat Murphy, CEO of Ann Storck Center, tells Browardist. “This year feels extra special as we rally our community to bring holiday cheer to the children and adults we support. Every serve, every laugh and every toy donated helps make their holidays brighter, and that’s what makes this day so meaningful.”
The tournament takes over the sand just north of the Pompano Pier, with co-ed teams of four playing in competitive or recreational divisions. Grab four or five friends, sign up and get ready for a full day of digs, volleys, raffles, prizes and lunch included with registration, y’all. Players can also bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate, helping Ann Storck Center gift holiday magic to the children and residents it serves.
Ann Storck Center supports more than 300 individuals daily and provides residential care for 96 people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Deck the Volleyballs is one of its most spirited fundraisers, turning every point scored into something meaningful for the community.
On the day of the v-ball event, registration opens at 7:30 a.m. and play begins at 9 a.m. So, get bumpin’ – learn more and sign up at annstorckcenter.org.
