Treasure hunts aren’t just for pirates anymore, y’all.
Starting Tuesday, October 28 at 10 a.m. and through Saturday, November 1, Miami becomes the final stop on Stack’s Bowers Galleries’ nationwide treasure hunt. And this one’s got serious gold (and silver) at stake.
In celebration of its 90th anniversary, the legendary rare coin and currency dealer is hiding certificates redeemable for actual treasure around five iconic Miami locations.
Each day, one lucky seeker will uncover a certificate worth anywhere from $300 to $3,500 in collectible coins or currency, adding up to a total of $10,000 in prizes given during a five-day span.
The clues drop daily on Stack’s Bowers’ Instagram and Facebook pages (@StacksBowers and @StacksBowersRetail), so the hunt is as much about digital sleuthing as it is about pounding the pavement. Find a certificate, bring it to the brand’s Miami gallery and claim your haul. Or, if you’d rather cash in than collect, Stack’s Bowers will buy it back on the spot. Yowsers!
The Miami event marks the grand finale of a month-long national series that’s already sent treasure seekers scouring New York, Boston and Philadelphia. Each city’s hunt has unearthed new collectors, unexpected stories and maybe even a few people who finally learned what “numismatic” means.
Stack’s Bowers has been in the rare coin game since 1933, handling some of the most valuable collections on the planet. But this week, it’s Miami’s turn to strike literal gold (or at least some shiny silver).
