You’re not imagining things. September has been a soggy overachiever, and Fort Lauderdale has the record to prove it.
As of September 30, the month’s final day, Weather Spark reports 20.58 inches of rain at Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport. That’s roughly 1.7 feet of rain. Somebody get this month a towel.
The record-breaking news arrived before September could even finish its business. NBC6 and Local 10 reported that Fort Lauderdale had already logged its wettest September on record with about a week still on the calendar. The previous September benchmark was 18.40 inches, set in 1998 – that was a record that survived nearly three decades before this year’s soaking.

Translation and either way you look at it... your repeated “Is it seriously raining again?” observations have plenty of statistical backup. September secured its place in the record books before the final week was through, leaving several additional days to pad an already impressive performance.
