Looking for a fun Broward County fact? One of the nation's most successful Habitat for Humanity ReStores is right here in Fort Lauderdale.
Habitat Broward ReStore recently celebrated its 25th anniversary on May 26, marking a quarter-century of turning donated furniture, appliances, home décor and building materials into funding for affordable housing throughout Broward County. The location, at 505 W. Broward Blvd., now ranks among the top two Habitat ReStores in the United States and is projected to generate $2.4 million in revenue this year.
That's a remarkable achievement for a nonprofit retail operation whose inventory arrives through donations from residents, businesses and major corporate partners.
Unlike a traditional furniture or home improvement retailer, every purchase at Habitat Broward ReStore helps support Habitat for Humanity of Broward's efforts to create affordable homeownership opportunities for local families. Revenue generated through the store goes directly back into the organization's housing mission.
The anniversary celebration brought together donors, corporate partners and community leaders who have helped fuel the store's growth over the past 25 years. Among those recognized were CITY Furniture, Macy's, The Home Depot and Restoration Hardware for their ongoing support and contributions.
The event also honored Nancy Daly, whose vision helped establish the ReStore in Broward County. Daly acquired the property and later secured donor support to fully fund the building, allowing the operation to remain mortgage-free.
