Dust off those dancing shoes, Broward. Good Night John Boy is bringing its ’70s-inspired disco party to Fort Lauderdale, and the public is officially invited to hit the dance floor starting Friday, November 6, at 8 p.m.

The bar, restaurant and nightclub will open at 270 SE 6th Ave., mixing the comforts of your grandparents’ basement with a splash of Studio 54 glamour. Think wood paneling, vintage wallpaper, shag carpeting, glowing neon and plenty of disco balls. Add nightly DJs spinning throwback hits, and you’ve got a new destination for those dance moves.

Good Night John Boy comes from Forward Hospitality Group, whose founders Michael Schwartz and Bobby Rutter shared their excitement for the Broward arrival.

“South Florida has embraced Good Night John Boy in a way that has exceeded every expectation,” they said in a statement provided to Browardist. “We’re excited to bring another unforgettable nightlife destination to the city while continuing to grow one of our favorite markets.”

The name comes from the classic TV series The Waltons, but the soundtrack and setting are all about the disco era. The Fort Lauderdale location will also roll out programming including Industry and Latin Nights, Divas of Disco and John’s House on the last Sunday of each month.

Naturally, the drinks have some personality, too. The Dirty Ashtray combines Miller High Life with Tapatío, lime, salt and pepper, plus a mezcal sidecar. Hot Stuff is a spicy mango margarita, while the Mood Ring turns cherry limeade into a tequila cocktail topped with an edible glitter bomb. The Disco Punch comes in a signature disco cup that guests can take home.

For a bite between dance-floor sessions, there’s the Johnny Meal: a choice of burger or house-battered chicken tenders served with fries and a nostalgic take-home toy. Beer, seltzers and bottle service will also be available.

Fort Lauderdale joins a nationwide lineup that includes Cleveland, Columbus, Chicago, San Diego, St. Petersburg and Delray Beach. The concept was also named among USA Today’s Best Bars of 2026.
