Fort Lauderdale just got even more festive and – dare we say it – a dash posher. The House on the River is launching its Holiday High Tea on Friday, December 12, serving elevated sips and bites every Friday and Saturday through January 3 on its iconic second-floor porch overlooking the New River. It’s one of the oldest historic homes in the city, but for the next few weeks, it’s doubling as one of Broward’s coziest holiday escapes. Seatings are in the 1 to 3 p.m. window and are booking quickly.
For $59 per person, guests settle in for a full tea service complete with towers of finger sandwiches, fresh-baked pastries, fruits and the option (for an added fee) to take things up a notch with seasonal cocktails. Think Winter White Cosmos, Apple Cider Mules, Peppermint Espresso Martinis, Gingerbread Margaritas and more.
“Holiday High Tea offers everything you're looking for in a holiday experience: warming sips of tea, sweet bites and an invitation to slow down and enjoy the company you're with while enjoying river views from the historic house,” Steven D’Apuzzo of Society 8 Hospitality Group tells Browardist. “This year we're giving our traditional High Tea service a cheery-spin with unique holiday cocktails offered as an accompaniment to gourmet tea and sweet and savory small bites.”
The setup feels intentionally slow and luxurious — river breezes, seasonal décor threaded throughout the property and a share-friendly spread that leans into the social side of tea. Consider it both grandmother-approved and totally Instagram-ready. Space is limited, so reservations via OpenTable are encouraged.
