If your holiday calendar is looking a little too nice and not naughty enough, there’s a new show in Wilton Manors that is about to fix that. Kutumba Theatre Project is rolling in with The Eight: Reindeer Monologues, a three-night pop-up takeover December 12 through 14 at Wilton Collective Event Space. Consider it part theatre, part party, part gleefully unhinged North Pole scandal.

This adults-only satire by Jeff Goode flips holiday cheer on its big ole antlered head: Vixen has accused Santa of sexual harassment (yes, we told you it was dark, people), and now each of the elite Eight is stepping up to spill the tea. Expect Cupid the openly gay reindeer, Blitzen the militant lesbian, Comet the ex–gang member in recovery, Prancer the Hollywood wannabe, Dancer the Jewish reindeer, Dasher the dashing lead, Donner, and of course Vixen herself. And yes, your fave might surprise you.

Kutumba Theatre Project founder and the show’s director, Kim Ehly, tells Browardist that the experience is “really unique,” adding: “it’s an adult themed holiday show that’s a pop-up and a bar takeover, where the reindeer are inches from where you are, it’s intimate, it shatters the fourth wall, and the reindeer are ready to tell their stories about the scandal that’s rocked the North Pole. It’s like SNL meets the North Pole, but with an edge… and by the end, everyone’s wondering — will Christmas even happen this year?”

The cast is stacked, too: Gage Callenius as Comet/Hollywood; Amber Joy Layne as Vixen; Taylor Lyn Dawson as Blitzen; Scott Pauw as Dasher/Cupid; Ellen Katz Murray as Dancer; and T.J. Black as Donner. The vibe? Wickedly funny, deeply immersive and fully holiday-mischief.

The party kicks off an hour before showtime and continues after curtain call, complete with photos, music and a full bar. Show time is at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Tickets run $35 for general admission and $45 for front row. (Psst: Browardist readers score $5 off with code BROWARDIST.) Bring an unwrapped toy for Undercover Santa, too, because this naughty night supports a good cause.
