Hollywood just got a major cultural glow-up. The Hollywood Art and Culture Center has opened the Hollywood Arts Hub, a dramatic new wing that expands its footprint, deepens its programming and solidifies its status as one of Broward’s most exciting creative engines.

As executive director Jennifer Homan tells Browardist, the expansion is all about making space for more moments that spark connection. “The opening of the Hollywood Arts Hub gives residents and visitors more diverse experiences through the Arts Auditorium, the Digital Media Lab, the Create More Art Studio and the Imagine Courtyard,” she says.

“We now have a lot more space for activations and, every Thursday night, we’ll have our Create More Art Nights from 6 to 8 pm. The first Thursday of every month is for wellness with yoga, sound baths, a drum circle and breath work practices. We’ll have art workshops, book clubs, guitar lessons, dance, songwriting and even game nights with Mah Jong and yard games. There’s just so many things to choose from because everybody has different interests. We want to make sure that we reflect the community in everything that we are doing.”

Step inside and you’ll see exactly what she means. The 110-seat Arts Auditorium brings concerts, talks and screenings to life. The Create More Art Studio is tailor made for hands-on workshops and creative play. The Digital Media Lab gives makers a high-tech playground for editing, production and storytelling. And the Imagine Courtyard ties it all together with a breezy, outdoor space meant for gathering, performing and celebrating.

What truly sets the new wing apart, though, is how it bridges Hollywood’s past and future. “The most amazing feature of the new Hollywood Arts Hub is that it connects to the historic Kagey Home, and the two buildings are 101 years apart,” Homan says. “You can only imagine the challenges faced in connecting those two visions/buildings from a construction standpoint. The City of Hollywood Design & Construction department, Pirtle Construction and the Brooks+Scarpa design team have made the process a phenomenal experience. Now, to see the two next to each other, past and future, it’s just a beautiful thing to behold.”

With expanded programming, fresh energy and a design that’s instantly iconic, the Hollywood Arts Hub is set to become a further Hollywood landmark and creative heartbeat for the community.
