It’s even more official — Broward’s behind the wheel reputation just took another hit. A new survey of 3,015 truckers from American River Wellness found that Fort Lauderdale drivers are the worst in Florida, topping a list that spans eight cities statewide.

Truckers say Fort Lauderdale motorists rank among the worst in the nation too, coming in at number four overall. They pointed to high-speed weaving on I-95, tailgating in blind spots and last second lane changes as reasons they stay on high alert through Broward’s busiest corridors.

Sound familiar?

Hollywood didn’t escape blame either, landing in fourth place in Florida and eighth nationally, with truckers calling out locals who zip in front of semis then slow down. Miami followed in third place for the state, while West Palm Beach rounded out the top five. Orlando, Tallahassee, Palm Bay and Gainesville filled the remaining “worst” spots.

Researchers from American River Wellness asked truckers to rate the most irritating and dangerous driving behaviors they encounter. Nearly 40 percent pointed to last second cut-ins as their biggest frustration, followed by drivers who hover in blind spots or speed past only to slam the brakes. More than two thirds said texting remains the single biggest threat they face from nearby cars.

Truckers also reminded motorists that sharing the road isn’t just about courtesy, but physics. Fun fact: A fully loaded semi can weigh up to 80,000 pounds and needs far more stopping distance than a car. When someone cuts in too close, that safety margin disappears fast – so don’t be a jerk, y’all.
