South Florida comedy is having a major moment and Miami-native comic, producer and all-around hurricane of humor Brittany Brave is making sure the world pays attention. On Sunday, November 16, she’s bringing a Best of Miami comedy showcase to the Miami Improv for one night only with two stacked shows at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Think of it as a sampler platter of the 305 and 954’s funniest voices.

We’re talking Ricky Cruz, Gene Harding, Cisco Duran, Carlos Hernandez, Eli Rodriguez, Julie Baez, Brave herself and likely a few surprise ringers. If you’ve laughed in Miami and beyond over the past decade, odds are one or more of these names has been involved.

The night also doubles as a celebration and continuation of Brave’s upcoming documentary, Muchacha, a film she has spent the last three years producing that shines a spotlight on Miami’s comedy identity, energy and history. The project recently blew past its crowdfunding goal by 130 percent, is now in post-production and already has early eyes from entertainment-industry heavy hitters.

And yes, the audience gets bonus behind-the-scenes access. Both shows feature a sneak peek at the film, and all proceeds go directly to helping finish it.

“It’s rare to get most of South Florida’s heavy hitters on one stage in one night... but somehow we did it and across not one, but two shows,” Brave tells Browardist. “Muchacha is the first movie to capture the essence of Miami comedy and stand up. We intend for it to put the 305 and 954 on the map in the entertainment business and beyond.”

Tickets are on sale now starting at $31.90 via miamiimprov.com.
