I scream, you scream...

Lauderdale-by-the-Sea’s next beach-day involves baklava gelato, loaded bubble waffles and a shot at a free scoop.

DaVinci Gelato, the family-owned dessert shop at 645 Lincoln Road in Miami Beach, is bringing its second location—and first Broward County storefront—to 100 Commercial Boulevard, a block from the beach.

As of press time, the team is targeting Sunday, November 15, for a ribbon-cutting and free single-scoop gelato cups for the first 100 guests, first come, first served. The date remains tentative and could shift to another day that week; an opening time has yet to be announced.

“We fell in love with Lauderdale-by-the-Sea because of its unique coastal charm and strong sense of community,” founder Anna Minadakis tells Browardist.

The business began with a family dessert dilemma – Anna struggled to enjoy ordinary milk and regular ice cream, and relatives had lactose intolerance. Her search for another option led to A2/A2 milk, which became the foundation for DaVinci’s traditional gelato. The shop uses 100% grass-fed A2/A2 cow’s milk, alongside ingredients including Valrhona chocolate, Madagascar vanilla and actual Ferrero Rocher and Kinder Bueno candy.

A useful distinction – its milk-based gelato still contains lactose. Dairy-free sorbets provide an alternative for guests avoiding dairy.

“We also offer an extensive selection of handcrafted flavors, including vegan sorbets and sugar-free options, because we believe everyone deserves to experience exceptional gelato,” Minadakis says.

About those flavors, eh? The rotating menu stretches from baklava and Greek-inspired kaimaki to mascarpone with fig, peanut butter banana cinnamon and cheesecake pistachio. Chocolate devotees can investigate dark chocolate with sour cherry and chocolate flakes, while the sorbet lineup includes mango passion fruit, mojito and dairy-free pistachio.

And a cup barely scratches the dessert situation. The Dubai bubble waffle combines a double-chocolate waffle with Dubai gelato, kadaifi with pistachio praline, chocolate syrup and wafer sticks. Gelato donuts come in ten flavors, including dulce de leche, bubblegum and Minions. There are also freshly made crepes, four-pancake stacks, mini waffle bites, elaborate shakes and custom gelato cakes.

A buffalo milk gelato collection is listed as coming soon, with traditional flavors planned on the new base. Even the shop’s name tips its hat to Leonardo da Vinci and an emphasis on details.

“We're bringing a premium gelato experience that combines authentic craftsmanship, carefully selected ingredients, creative flavors, and genuine hospitality,” Minadakis says.
