She's all over Broward... and your feeds. Meet Shelly Teal.

For Shelly Teal, South Florida's restaurant scene started as an adventure and quickly became a calling. The content creator behind a growing roster of restaurant videos has built a loyal following by spotlighting Broward County's newest openings, longtime neighborhood gems and creative culinary concepts, all while raising a three-year-old daughter and helping lead the local women's community, Laudergals.
Born and raised on a dairy farm in northern Illinois, Teal credits her Midwestern upbringing for the work ethic that's carried her through several career chapters. "I'm definitely a Midwestern girl through and through," she tells Browardist. "It’s all about that Midwestern hardiness... pull yourself up by your bootstraps and just keep on pushing forward."
After college, Teal spent eight years in Connecticut working professionally as an event planner before she and her husband made a leap that many vacationers only talk about. Frequent long weekends in Fort Lauderdale eventually convinced them to relocate permanently in 2022. They spent two and a half years in Fort Lauderdale before settling in Hollywood, where they now call home.
Content creation entered the picture about six years ago as a creative outlet, beginning with fashion. Once she arrived in South Florida, however, the area's restaurant scene quickly stole her heart.
"I started to post here and there about restaurants," Teal says. "Instagram kind of nudged me in that way because I started to see some traction with views and followers. I switched my niche over to food and I have never looked back."
A video featuring Fort Lauderdale's Olive & Sea became her first viral success and confirmed she had found the lane she wanted to pursue. Since then, she's developed a visual style centered on colorful dishes, eye-catching cocktails and polished storytelling that helps local restaurants reach new audiences.
"I love that I can support the Fort Lauderdale food community," she says. "If I inspire one person to go to the restaurant that I share, done deal. That's perfect."
While splashy openings always generate buzz, Teal says many of her favorite discoveries are the neighborhood restaurants that don't always dominate social media feeds. Among the places that she regularly recommends and are her most memorable are Anthony's Runway 84, Burlock Coast, Olive & Sea, Jaxson's Ice Cream Parlor, Diplomat Prime Steakhouse, Chile Limon, The Greek Joint and Carmela's in Hollywood. She especially lights up talking about neighborhood staples, praising their welcoming staff and memorable meals.
One thing that sets Teal apart is her hyper-focus on Broward County. While many influencers chase the latest Miami hotspot, she's intentionally stayed closer to home.
"I can count on one hand the amount of things that I've shared in Miami," she says. "I focus completely on Broward, and I like that."
That hometown-first perspective has helped establish Teal as one of the 954’s most recognizable foodie voices. Whether she's introducing followers to a tucked-away Hollywood favorite, highlighting a creative restaurant promo or capturing a beautifully plated dinner, her mission remains pretty simple. It’s all about connecting people with great local food and keeping her home front and center.
