Milk Money Bar & Kitchen - a beloved brunch and cocktail destination born nearly a decade ago - has quietly shuttered its doors as of Dec. 22.

Browardist confirmed with an on-site visit that the 815 NE 13th St. space is closed, its entrance draped in signage reading “Sorry, we are permanently closed. Thank you for the good times.” Bottima Barbershop, a neighboring business in the same building, remains open, and, when questioned, its staff appeared taken aback by Milk Money’s sudden disappearance. The neighborhood staple’s Facebook page has been deleted and its Instagram comments heavily restricted since the closure. As of press time, attempts to secure comment from Milk Money’s Instagram account have not been returned.

In a final Instagram post from the business, Milk Money wrote, “With a full heart, we're sharing that Milk Money is closing its doors as of today.” The short announcement made no mention of future plans or relocation.

Since opening in 2016 as an expansion from Warsaw Coffee Company - where the name “Milk Money” was originally a tongue-in-cheek reference to liquor sales supplementing the cafe’s business - the spot became a go-to for everything from weekend brunch and bottomless bellinis to weekday happy hours and craft dinners. Regulars praised the laid-back vibe, inventive cocktails and eclectic menu that drew crowds from breakfast through late night. Over the years it amassed nearly 3,000 Google reviews with an overall 4.4 rating, along with a solid 4.1 on Yelp, reflecting its place on many locals’ rotations.

Despite its popularity, the closure has come without fanfare, leaving many Fort Lauderdale diners surprised, disappointed and with questions. There’s no public word yet on what will replace the once-buzzy bar and kitchen that anchored that stretch of the neighborhood or what, if anything, comes next for its team.
