If anywhere in Broward should host a Halloween cocktail bash, it’s the 108-year-old schoolhouse where visitors have reported phantom footsteps, moving chairs and unexplained voices.
The Old Davie School Museum & Event Venue will morph into a “spook-easy” for Spirited History on Friday, Oct. 16, from 7 to 9 p.m. The adults-only event will take over three museum rooms at 6650 Griffin Road in Davie.
Tickets cost $40 for general admission and $35 for museum members, teachers and college students. Admission includes specialty cocktails, light hors d’oeuvres, museum mingling and a tipsy guided tour featuring stories from Davie’s past with a Halloween spin.

The setting arrives with plenty of supernatural street cred. WLRN reported that guests and volunteers have described paranormal activity across the property, including footsteps heard on an empty second floor and chairs seemingly moving on their own. Investigators have also claimed to capture unexplained voices, sensor activity and images of shadowy figures.
NBC 6 has included the school in its rundown of South Florida paranormal tales, while the venue has previously joined the fun by poking at its own haunted reputation.
Built in 1918, the school is Broward County’s oldest existing school building still standing at its original location. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.
The spirits served Oct. 16 may come in cocktail glasses. Any others roaming the halls are apparently on their own tab. Advance tickets are required and space is limited.
