Free rides in Plantation are expanding.

Getting around Plantation without hopping behind the wheel is about to get a whole lot easier. Freebee, the free on-demand transportation service powered by all-electric vehicles, is expanding both its fleet and service area this month thanks to a $200,000 investment through Broward County's Mobility Advancement Program (MAP Broward).
The city is growing its Freebee fleet from three to five electric vehicles after demand quickly took off following the service's July 2025 debut. In just one year, riders have already logged more than 26,000 trips across Plantation, and officials expect that number to more than double with the latest expansion.
The larger coverage area opens up rides to additional residential neighborhoods, senior living communities and commercial hubs throughout the city. It also connects riders to Plantation Gateway, the city's 400-acre Community Redevelopment Area along the State Road 7 corridor, while extending access to shopping centers, restaurants, businesses and everyday services farther north.
City leaders say the service has become a win for both residents and local businesses. Freebee is also working with homeowners' associations across Plantation to introduce the service to new neighborhoods while expanding access for older adults looking for an easy way to reach appointments, dining spots, errands and other daily destinations.
Founded in Miami, Freebee now operates more than 300 all-electric vehicles across 50-plus communities in Florida and North Carolina, providing over 2 million rides each year. Plantation's expansion marks another step in Broward County's broader investment in innovative transportation options designed to improve connectivity while reducing emissions.
