Pickleball fever keeps hitting new highs throughout South Florida and the City of Pompano Beach just served up one of the sport’s biggest local wins yet. Eight brand-new, free-to-play, lighted courts opened December 3 at Sgt. Kip Jacoby Park (220 NW 31st Ave.), instantly giving locals a new go-to spot to dink, drop and rally their way through America’s fastest growing sport.

The courts are open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, with the lights going off at 9:15 p.m.

Unveiled with remarks from Parks Director Scott Moore, Mayor Rex Hardin and Vice Mayor Alison Fournier, the new setup is designed for all levels, from first-timers to players chasing that next competitive jump. “These new courts give us more room to stack up, rotate in and keep the games going. From friendly rec play to serious competitive rallies… we built this space for everyone to play, improve and have fun,” says Moore.

The opening cements Pompano Beach as one of Broward’s most pickleball-forward cities, now boasting 33 courts across its parks system. Pompano Beach Community Park leads the pack with 12 free courts, followed by six each at Mitchell/Moore Park and George Brummer Park. The Municipal Tennis Center adds one more, and Sgt. Kip Jacoby Park’s new eight brings the city’s total to a number that stays packed daily. It’s a sign that demand isn’t slowing anytime soon.

Players looking for additional options can also rotate into other park options as well as paid complexes like The Fort in Fort Lauderdale or Diadem Pickleball Complex in Coconut Creek, both offering pro-level play, leagues and clinics.
