South Florida’s beachfront food and wine circuit hits a high note this weekend as SAVOR SoFlo returns to the sands of the Hollywood Broadwalk on Saturday, April 18 and Sunday, April 19. Presented by Publix and the City of Hollywood, the two-day festival brings together top chefs, restaurants and beverage brands for unlimited tastings, live entertainment and interactive culinary programming steps from the Atlantic.
Before the VIP gates open Saturday at noon, however, a select group of chefs will go head-to-head for the festival’s coveted Best Chef title in a private competition. This year’s competitors include Chef Sean Collins of Margaritaville Restaurants, Chef Ashley Blewett of Mastro’s, Chef Samer Altillawi of Sufrat and Chef Michael Romano of The Palm, each presenting a single dish judged on execution, presentation, taste, creativity and aroma.
The judging panel reads like a who’s who of local media and tastemakers: Olee Fowler with The Leftovers, Arlene Borenstein with City of Hollywood, Jason Carter with Local 10, Jorge Arauz with Brickell and Key Biscayne Magazines and Browardist’s own Jesse Scott. The winner is crowned before doors open, setting the tone for a weekend of serious culinary bragging rights.
Once inside, guests can expect a sprawling Grand Tasting Village with gourmet bites, wine pours, craft beer and spirits, plus access to the VIP Spirits Lounge for those with upgraded tickets. Pricing starts at $120 for general admission and $150 for VIP, with a portion of proceeds benefiting Gilda’s Club South Florida and Glam-A-Thon.
