A nook along Federal Highway in Fort Lauderdale is about to feel a lot more like a bustling night market. On Saturday, February 28 from 6 to 10 p.m., Temple Street Eatery will transform the sidewalk outside its 416 North Federal Highway home into a full-blown Chino Latino Lunar New Year fiesta. And yes, it’s free to attend (with RSVP).

Created by chef and owner Diego Ng, the celebration pulls directly from his Chinese-Venezuelan heritage, blending Asian and Latino flavors, music and tradition into one high-energy street party. “Temple Street Eatery has always been about bringing people together through food,” Ng tells Browardist. “This Lunar New Year celebration is our way of bringing food, culture and tradition to be enjoyed by the whole community.”

The milestone also marks a symbolic moment for the restaurant as it celebrates not only the Year of the Fire Horse, but its 12th animal in the Chinese zodiac.

Expect Birria Ramen, Chorizo Frita Shumai, Chino Latino Fried Rice, dim sum and Pirucream Thai Coconut Rice Pudding alongside local vendors like Dr. Doughlittle, Scobucha, Sweet Aloha Ice Cream, Bun Bun Asian Bakery and Art Emerson Pottery. Wok Star Eleanor Hoh, known for her Supper Club gatherings and Chinese New Year productions, is hosting and helped curate the full lineup.

The vibe? A legit block party. There’s a traditional Lion Dance by John Wai’s martial artists, DJ Eclectico spinning Afro Cuban salsa, sake cocktails by the ever-stellar Shojo’s Dojo, a community calligraphy banner led by Ms. Dans Chinese and even astrology readings. Three action stations will keep things moving, with $10 food tickets and $5 drink tickets available on-site.

Entry is complimentary, but you must RSVP on Eventbrite. To gear up for the party, visit https://www.eventbrite.com.
