Looking for something refreshingly different to do this Saturday night? Temple Street Eatery is keeping the lights on well after dinner service for a late-night mahjong social that blends friendly competition, Hong Kong-inspired bites, specialty cocktails and a charitable cause.
From 9 p.m. to midnight on Saturday, July 25, Temple Street Eatery in Fort Lauderdale will host 888 Mahjong Social Club for an evening welcoming everyone from first-time players to seasoned mahjong enthusiasts. Beginners can learn the game with on-site instructors, while experienced players can jump into Hong Kong-style fan (point system) open play tables.
Tickets are $33.85 and include three hours of mahjong, a complimentary Yuzu Infused Sake Shot from Shojo's Dojo, three pork and shrimp shumai and two vegetable spring rolls. One attendee will also take home a special raffle prize.
Hungry for more? Temple Street Eatery's late-night menu will be available throughout the event, featuring favorites like shrimp wontons, crab rangoon, menchi katsu sando, Hong Kong soy sauce noodles and additional dishes, alongside Shojo's Dojo's specialty sake cocktails.
The evening also supports families impacted by the recent earthquake in Venezuela. Five dollars from every ticket will benefit World Central Kitchen, while attendees are encouraged to bring essential donation items that will be distributed through Global Empowerment Mission (GEM), which is providing disaster relief in the region.
