When people think of South Florida casinos, names like the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Gulfstream Park and Casino at Dania Beach usually come to mind. But tucked along Alligator Alley on the far western edge of Broward County sits a gaming spot that many locals have never heard of.
Located adjacent to the Miccosukee Service Plaza at Exit 49 on Interstate 75, Little Trail Casino opened in February 2024 as a sister property to Miccosukee Casino & Resort. The casino occupies 8,500 square feet on Miccosukee land and holds the distinction of being the first gaming destination to open at a highway rest stop in South Florida.
Browardist recently stopped in and found a surprisingly polished operation in the middle of the Everglades. The non-smoking casino features 150 slot machines, sparkling-clean interiors and a laid-back bar tucked toward the back of the property.
The setting is part of the appeal. One minute you're cruising through sawgrass prairies and wetlands, the next you're pulling into a modern service plaza complete with fuel stations, food options, a Dunkin' and a casino.
Open daily from 9 a.m. to midnight, Little Trail Casino caters to both road-trippers looking for a break and gaming enthusiasts perhaps seeking a change of luck. The property also offers a rewards program and rotating promotions, including free-play giveaways and prize drawings throughout the summer.
The spot is located at 47801 W. State Road 84, approximately 48 miles west of Downtown Fort Lauderdale.
