In a town increasingly comfortable hosting billionaires, heads of state and global decision-makers, one institution has been quietly doing it for decades: Forum Club of the Palm Beaches. The storied West Palm Beach nonprofit has long been a magnet for heavyweight thinkers and leaders, and in recent months its speaker roster reads like a who’s-who of global influence.
Most recently, former U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen addressed members, adding to a legacy that includes appearances by former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, NBC’s Hoda Kotb, Mitt Romney and Nancy Pelosi. Consider it our region’s carefully curated forum where policy, business, culture and global affairs mingle on the regular.
Founded in 1976, the Forum Club operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a mission rooted in civic engagement and informed dialogue. Events typically feature high-level speakers in an intimate setting, followed by Q&A that often goes deeper than what you’ll hear on cable news or at massive conferences.
What’s next underscores its continued pull. Kenneth Griffin, founder and CEO of Citadel, is slated to speak on Tuesday, February 3, followed by Nicholas Burns, former U.S. ambassador to the People’s Republic of China, on Wednesday, March 25.
Access is generally member-driven, but tickets are available to the public for individual events. Membership-wise, The Forum Club caps membership at 800 individuals and requires two member references, a vetting process and annual dues. Prospective members can apply year-round and, while awaiting approval, attend events at a reduced ticket rate ($80).
