You don’t need a passport - or a trip to Vatican City - to see one of the most famous ceilings in the world. Beginning Thursday, March 12, Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel: The Exhibition is landing at Galleria Fort Lauderdale, bringing the Renaissance master’s iconic frescoes to life right in the middle of one of Broward’s most recognizable shopping destinations.

The globally acclaimed traveling exhibit recreates all 34 of Michelangelo’s ceiling and altar masterpieces at life-size scale using licensed high-resolution imagery and advanced printing techniques. That means visitors can study every brushstroke, color shift and detail - from the famous Creation of Adam to The Last Judgment - without craning their necks in a crowded chapel or hopping a flight to Rome.

Instead of gazing up from the Vatican floor, the exhibit presents the artwork in a format that lets guests walk alongside the frescoes and see them up close. Informational signage and optional audio guides dive into the history, symbolism and artistry behind Michelangelo’s work, making the experience both educational and immersive.

The exhibit has already drawn millions of visitors worldwide and carries an impressive 4.8-star rating globally. It’s equal parts art appreciation and visual spectacle, making it something of a paradise for history buffs, culture lovers and, yes, Instagrammers looking for a dramatic backdrop.

Tickets start at $28 for general admission, with discounts available for seniors, students, military and children. VIP tickets include flexible entry and a souvenir guidebook. To celebrate the Fort Lauderdale debut, visitors can score 20% off tickets through March 15, marking the exhibit’s best pricing during its run.

The experience will be open Wednesday through Sunday at Galleria Fort Lauderdale (2414 E Sunrise Blvd.), just minutes from the beach and downtown. For locals and visitors alike, who’ve always dreamed of seeing Michelangelo’s masterpiece up close, this might be the closest thing to Rome you’ll find... on Sunrise Boulevard.
